Lol, I remember when nearly everyone was talking about that, but the moral scolds were busy telling everyone they should not talk about it. One of the biggest stars, slapping one of the biggest names in comedy: no one should comment on it because something something reasons. Lol, as if.

I’ll actually be at the esplanade in Boston to see the Boston Pops and Massachusetts National Guard perform my favorite musical instrument, the M198 155mm howitzer.

I’ve done that before, it’s fun. Are you going to be in the hatch shell or by the water (or switch)?

I was at the hatch shell. It was a good thing too because fireworks were all obscured by clouds. You cannot really switch once the concert starts. It is not physically possible.

We switched once quickly during the last song and sprinted to our blanket, but it was hectic and I don’t recommend it.

But yeah I saw the smoke on the livestream, barely any wind. Too bad. I hope you had fun the rest of the day.

I love how the 1812 Overture was actually originally written as a patriotic anthem for a completely different country (Russia), but the moment us Americans found out it used a fricking howtizer as an instrument we decided there’d clearly been a mix-up somewhere, because this was obviously the most American song that had ever been written. Therefore, it’s ours now, finders keepers losers weepers!

I would argue that the conflict in the Americas was undeniably linked with that in Europe in 1812. The 1812 Overture speaks to the general sentiment at the time and largely translates. It’s also very important to follow it up with the Stars and Stripes Forever by JPS.

Mentally preparing myself for being locked in a closet with my drugged up dogs who will be a nervous wreck all night and it’s the only place in the house they feel safe in, but I also need to be in there for them to feel safe, and the sounds of the fireworks will be slightly muffled from there.

My dogs and I aren’t fans of the 4th of July.

My dog has fairly recently gone deaf, and the only tiny silver lining is that he’s been completely unfazed by the fireworks we’ve been getting for the past week around us. Good luck tonight!

Thanks! I feel that. My eldest pup is deaf and is no longer freaked out by any loud noises, but he picks up on the younger one’s anxiety. Luckily it’s just fireworks and not thunderstorms that frighten the young one so we only have to deal with this bullshit twice a year.

Hoping for rain between the hours of 7pm to midnight. For context, we’ve been breathing in the smoke from the Canadian wildfires for weeks now.
