The Greek gods were frequently described as being like this. They were some combination of angry, stupid and conceited a lot of the time. Petulant children, just like the humans who worshipped them.

The only difference is that you might get away with calling a fellow human angry, stupid or conceited. Those very qualities in the gods made that much less likely if you did it to them.

There’s a neat link with satire and human leaders if you squint a bit. I mean it isn’t that long since they were declaring themselves gods. And a few still claim their right under the name of some god or another.

God never got over being dumped by Lucifer.

God is an asshole. Check your Old Testament. Jesus did the love thing. God’s a fucking prick. And isn’t real.
