Santa would open the door and offer you a big spoonful of mashed potatoes! After sufficient protest Mrs. Clause would bring out the candy.

Growing up there was an older couple on my street who would dress as Mr and Mrs. Clause for Halloween. Santa would open the door and offer you a big spoonful of mashed potatoes! After sufficient protest Mrs. Clause would bring out the candy.
That sounds so wholesome. I’ll try to remember that idea for when I’m older.
