          Oh yea, mastodon’s dominance is getting a little embarrassing for the fediverse IMO. Threads joining will make it even worse.

          As an example, gargron is generally embracing of Threads’ arrival (he’s said some cringey things IMO) … which means the fediverse, by a decent approximation is embracing Threads. Huge decision in one person’s hand.

          Sure instances are independent, but mastodon.social is also dominant, and gargron’s “leadership” effect is likely real.
