Because I’d rather doom scroll and shitpost thank research which episode and find it to stream?

I read this one story long ago where there was a war between two spacefaring civilization. One was technologically advanced but fewer in number. However their attempts to improve their technological edge, worked toward eventually every ship being custom, unique …… until they lost the war under the weight of unique parts and maintenance that made their ships too expensive to keep running.
Even space ships need a supply chain, parts p, service, repairs. If we do ever become a spacefaring civilization, we’ll need many copies of relatively few unique models, like we already do with aircraft, cars, ships, and houses
Yes, we know there is one word in common.
Do both sets of progenitors look the same, act the same, have the same background or goals? Or did they take a vague story and write their own version with their own appearance, their own background and goals?
Think of the house you live in. There have been plenty of idealists proposing various domed, turreted, or cylindrical building, but lack of straight walls would make it damn annoying to arrange the furniture. Similar to cargo ships: we used to have hull shaped but now the most important concern is rectangular shipping containers. Extrapolate to spaceship design, and a cube is most efficient for crew quarters cargo storage
Why would there even be a nose? From the human perspective, it all depend on which wall the view screens are on. From the outside, maybe there’s a requirement for propulsion. There’s no reason they need to be the same, nor any reason ships are “streamlined”. I don’t see why they’re not all like Borg Cubes or Globes
Does anyone know if they were the same? Presented the same way?

Or maybe, since Starfleet is seeing it all through the view screen rather than directly, it’s just a little image manipulation for the comfort of the viewer
I have a pretty good hybrid situation, where it’s probably good for me to get dressed and out of the house twice a week. It helps that it’s only three mile commute with no traffic. I’d probably look for that, even if I don’t like going in.
That being said, we hire across many time zones and I don’t even work with local people so I’m not sure the point. Why is my company wasting money on a local office so I can be on Zoom all day, but can’t spend the travel budget even once for me to meet the people I work with (from Boston, I generally work with people in London, Toronto, Bangalore)
Probably everywhere. Here in the NorthEast US, I’ve heard plenty of people describe hot dogs that way. I mean, come on, you throw all the leftover bits and pieces into the grinder to make sausage: what bit and pieces end up in the cheapest sausage?
My poop feeds the fishes. My city has a giant protected watershed so we drink only the finest bear poop, piped directly into our homes, then our waste is treated, fermented for 30 days until ripe, and pumped out to sea
I can agree to 80% but also disagree with 80%. None of those are simple cut and dry situations and a simple answer is naive at best. And, most importantly, I can say that without sitting on a fence
Nuance is bad. It tries to make people think and that hurts their head!
I’m in Massachusetts, but I think I’m “cheating”. When I’ve had to finance, I’ve gotten a promotional rate. As far as I know you can only get those by letting the dealer find financing, so the credit union can’t match the promotional rate
Edit: my credit union is currently offering 6.84% loans for new cars. It’s hard to get the info to compare but the latest I found from my car manufacturer was 5.6%, but this spring they had at least two promotionals for 0% and 1%. Most importantly, it’s not like you can opt out of the financing and get a rebate of equal value
Completely? No, banks do a lot more than the retail accounts everyone is familiar with.
Side effects? ATM ownership? Usually the privately owned ones are much more expensive, borderline scams. Credit card processing?
Depending on how liberally you take the intent of the question, I haven’t directly used a traditional bank in decades. However my online bank has more capabilities than my credit union. And who would put investments in a bank when there are so many better investment options? My mortgage was started with a bank but sold to a loan processing company: if I had gotten it through my credit union, they don’t sell mortgages. I suppose car loans are typically a Main stream bank: my credit union offers poor terms for those, can’t compete
I imagine it depends where you live. I can see some areas will have very little Pokemon infrastructure , whereas as I live near enough to be entertaining. I thought the dog would be the walk motivator and the game something to do while walking, but it’s the other way around. The game is my motivator and the dog is the excuse, the cover for doing something other than play a kids game
I was looking for more passive stuff
Maybe you’re asking the wrong question then.
Apple Watch is an example of gamify healthy activity. Tracking workouts gets all the attention, but …… activity tracker shows that because I took a long walk today, I completed 263% of my typical activity, burned 156% of my typical calories, and 125% of at least moving around a bit every hour. I see awards for streaks or how many times I met goal this week, encouragement to do more, etc.
I only know my AppleWatch but I don’t imagine this is unique: maybe look for something more like an activity tracker?
BTW, PokeMon Go has added features over time, plus you can do more as you advance. One new feature is “routes” where you define routes that may be interesting for other people to follow. Once you get to a higher level, you can also contribute to points of interest for Pokemon Stops. For example my town built out its section of a rail trail planned to eventually cross the entire state, so I was one of the people defining new Pokemon Stoos at points of interest where the trail meets streets or parks, and people have defined “routes” so you get game credit for walking them. That being said, I’m not sold on routes being a good feature and I do live where I can walk to good Pokemon territory
There’s kind of a good point here where I don’t see how there are even doctors in that universe. You have these incredible portable scanners down the the molecular level, that can diagnose pretty much anything. At that point you’re just googling the symptoms, and no one can keep all the possibilities in their head. What value does a human doctor add?
I vaguely remember reading something about a Prius with solar panel on the roof. It was enough to run a small fan to keep the interior a little cooler. In theory it improved efficiency because the air conditioning had less work to do
Nice. Where do you get one of those for a reasonable price these days?
My first dog, I got exactly that for $4 from a grocery store as a seasonal thing
However, after our second dog was a fiasco, I got rid of that since we weren’t getting another dog.
Now our third dog has not been swimming. She’s a rescue who still reacts against other dogs so we can’t bring her to a lake or dog park. I want one of these pools again to see if she’d take to it, but she doesn’t like to get wet so odds are not in my favor. I think the same pool was $28 last time I saw one, and I’m not interested in throwing away that much money. Almost all “baby pools” I see now are inflatable, which wouldn’t survive a dogs first use. So are there really no cheap plastic pools anymore?
