Real answer? Shut your PC down, pull the hard drive, and use a dock to pull your personal data to another PC. Only files you are 100% certain are clean. No apps or scripts.

Then wipe the machine without using an internet connection. Change all your passwords and reconfigure your home network. Then reflect on what you did in regards to risky online behavior and be more proactive in protecting your privacy and data.

If real, how they did it is irrelevant if you don’t have forensic know-how. You need to now be proactive in preventing any further interference. If they can create a file on your desktop, they have access to the system and what is on it.

  • Many a tech writer is anxious over AI and I keep telling them they’ll just become junior editors. I don’t care how good the AI is. If you take it at face value and publish, get ready for human driven rewrites.

No company will allow basic AI, open to others, to exist and learn in their private ecosystem. Just look at Samsung with dumb employees using AI for meeting minutes. I wonder how much info OpenAI or someone else got from that.

The difference is I use YouTube and YouTube Music for hours a day. I’m on Lemmy maybe an hour a day. I’m not paying any subscription for a free service. I wouldn’t even pay for YouTube Premium, but I’m an original Google Music adopter, and their music algorithm really knows what I like.

I gave up Netflix, so I can stomach the cost increase this one time. Maybe my mood will change when the price increase hits later this year.
