  • As an atheist, I retrospectively feel like I haven’t been militant enough actually. People really need to stop creating laws that impact everyone based upon their own religious beliefs. If those religious bastards would be forced to critically think a bit more, we’d have less of them, and as a result maybe we’d have less suckage in the world overall.

People flashing their religion around is on par with people walking around with their dicks hanging out of their pants.

  • LMAO… “bribes”… no, I have no evidence of “bribes.” I don’t have any evidence of a financial incentive either, as very clearly evident by my phrasing starting with “I bet…” I’m simply relying on 40 years of not having my head completely up my own ass to make some inferences about things, and if I’m wrong, then I’m wrong. I think you’re being intentionally obtuse. None of this really is impactful, but you sure seem to have an agenda.

  • They are both wrong and they are both right. Up until this past week, I tended to be more sympathetic towards Palestine. Unfortunately, the most recent terrorist attack by Hamas was against more than just Israel or its military. It was a terrorist attack at a music festival, and Hamas attacked citizens of multiple nations.

It’s a lot easier to support Israel right now. It sounds like they’re about to commit their own atrocities though, so you might have to flip your position tomorrow.

  • Nonsense. Landlords will always push the costs of ownership on to their renters.

If you read it till the end, it compares the median cost of ownership (of a home… so maybe that means a 3/2, maybe it’s a 4/3, maybe it’s bigger), to renting (which is going to be smaller than a single family home). It also completely fails to mention the concept of equity.

What’s really happening is that the capitalists want less competition as they continue buying up real estate inventory, and if they can convince a few idiots that read marketwatch to continue renting indefinitely, it’s good for their numbers. Even with the insane insurance costs here in FL, the mortgage on my 1500sq ft house is less than my friend who rents a 2/2, 900sq ft apartment and lives in the same city as me.

I’m on board with the mindset that right now is one of the best times to buy. Prices in some areas have come down as a result of the interest rates being higher than they have been. There is less competition among buyers as a result. That brings prices down. Deal with a slightly higher interest rate for 2-3 years and save 15-20% on what the same house might cost in 3 years time. Also, you can refinance the house at a better rate when the rates do come back down.

  • Haven’t interacted on anything more than a superficial level. 15 years ago when I was in a band and playing shows, I encountered a lot of Warlocks. 90% of the time they were awesome. That 10% of the time was coo-coo-nuts-bullshit. There were two “guards” outside of a bar I was playing a show at that looked goofy as shit to me, but I didn’t inquire and I didn’t care. They had some crazy looking dude inside at the bar and I just stayed away from all of ‘em. Never had an experience more negative than that one, but again, 90% of the time they were actually solid people to be around.
