Ahhhh the GOAT. Seriously, as a smart kid everything else about me was ignored. Something wrong at school? You CAN do it, so just do it. D&D breaks up mental stats, but there’s even more out there. Int, Wis, Cha to start. Then there’s motivation, happiness, and empathy, and more. The mind is super complex and an int score of 18 being all that matters is like the saying “this hammer solves my nail problem, it will surely solve my window problem.”

Actually I had an entire day of one philosophy class to discuss this, however it was very specific that “teletransportation” absolutely kills you and replicates you. My professor specifically said that having an understanding of star trek was necessary that day.

I’ve been known to be smart since I was 7 or so. It’s awful, because my parents assumed that since I could do math I wouldn’t have any mental health problems. D&D is nice because it demonstrates there is more to the brain than a single spectrum, but even that falls short.
20 years ago he was the only talking head that was atheist and given any mainstream time. I don’t know much about him other than that and I don’t think he does anything very interesting but I think a lot of people still have him sort of bookmarked for how he was in the early 2000s
Catholic guilt. My parents were atheists when they had me, but still instilled guilt in me so hard it hurts to this day.
It’s recently brought to my attention that most of history is repeated, even though many people especially those in power are versed in it. That it seems like we need to fundamentally change the way we see and pass on history in order to actually learn anything from it.

I don’t know I think the motion picture is exactly what an episode of Voyager feels like. A strange anomaly shows up they can’t do anything about it and all over it and figure it out the end.
I think that saying insurrection is not ambitious enough sort of is exactly my point about appreciating it more now that I’ve gotten older. It wasn’t a phasers first story it wasn’t a horror story it was a story of personal reflection and juxtaposition of one’s own values. And you cannot discount the ‘how many people’ exchange. Peak Picard just like line drawn here. And I think the biggest thing for me is that until the Trek resurgence I always assumed that Picard would retire and go live with the Baku.
Insurrection is like Final Fantasy 8. It had two issues: it was a more nuanced personal adult story and it came directly after First Contact or FF7. In my childhood I was less impressed by insurrection, but as I grew up it became much more something that I appreciate it. Not sure what it is maybe achieving some kind of emotional maturity or epiphany and looking forward and looking backward, because that’s what insurrection seems to be about.
While I don’t agree with your general assessment I don’t think that there is any reason to really argue or go over the top on the particulars. I do think that first Contact is probably the best Star Trek we have and they always be so. There’s definitely a strong separation between the two subsets.
I’m currently watching '90s Trek with my SO, and weaving the movies in has been an absolute delight. Watching first Contact after starting season 3 of deep space nine, watching the undiscovered country part of the way into watching Voyager, watching insurrection towards the beginning of the Dominion war, it really just feels so natural.
Tony Stark knew the tesseract and Pym were in the NJ Shield base because Howard told him about meeting Tony there. It would have happened at some point right before the death of the Starks, as Tony needed to look like his older self. Howard probably told it as an oddity, not realizing it was actually Tony.
Ironman tells Cap something like - I know that I know, but I can’t tell you how I know - as if he suddenly put it all together there in 2013. This keeps Cap within the same timeline when he stays.
