What language are you programming in? In swift I have found all models (including sonnet) next to useless. Tells me something wrong almost every question i ask, has made up macros and apis, etc.

For English I have found Claude models slightly better than the GPT 4 subscription I used to have. For anything in multiple (human, not programming) languages, gpt has seemed best for me.

True for most of the franchise, but the ferengi are eventually. Also, I’m not sure if the federation prevents member worlds from continuing to have their own internal economies that could be market based. My guess is that they don’t and the ferengi will continue to use money for a long time.

You’re right, acid is the enemy of seasoning, not soap. I do use soap on my cast iron sometimes, but mostly not because my normal method is to rinse and wipe the pan then put back on heat to dry and use the remaining oil to help keep the seasoning up and the soap would strip that thin layer.

I wouldn’t have expected dishwashing detergent to be acidic which is why I expected it to not be so bad. Also I don’t mind fixing a seasoning every now and then so I’m still pretty tempted.

I cook mostly in cast iron and have never attempted this, but I imagine a decently seasoned pan would survive pretty unscathed, wouldn’t it? I have the sudden urge to try.

I wanna say “the corbomite maneuver” from TOS. I think it’s one of the best episodes of all, but most people don’t so i think it’s okay from the its all downhill perspective. It has everything: Kirk mentoring, an extremely powerful alien of the week, solving problems without fighting, but still tense situations. Such a great and representative episode.

From TNG maybe First Contact. Good intro episode as you get intro to the federation through the eyes of an alien of the week. The alien-chasing woman may be not a good thing to show depending on the person you’re showing it to, though.

For DS9, in the hands of the prophets. Doesn’t require much backstory unlike a lot of DS9, great ep, classic ethical debate/social commentary, and the majesty that is Vedek Winn.

For Voyager maybe distant origin. Great ep, doesn’t need much backstory, also great commentary on society

Even though I didn’t enjoy the movie, I’m still sad that Paul McGillion wasn’t cast as Scotty for the 2009 film. He’s both Scottish and Canadian, so perfect for carrying the torch.

I agree that the power of the Death Star may be beyond the capacity of a cube to adapt/dissipate, but the major problem with 8472 was that the borg couldn’t successfully assimilate the species. One drone making it on the Death Star would likely be the end of the war, though depending on how easily the Borg could penetrate the death star’s shielding it might lose multiple cubes in the process.

Dear doctor is one of those classic good eps of trek with absolutely terrible morality, much like every time Picard is like “these people have to die when we could easily help them because that’s what the universe wants”
