It came in at 3 meters per second… I just looked it up average man (recreational runners not couch potatoes) I think can sprint at about 3.25 meters per second. So that’s like a man sprinting into a dust covered brick wall. 7.27 miles per hour. But I assumed it bounced more with the lower gravity.
I don’t understand why so many people buy new cars. Wasting a year’s worth of income. It doesn’t make sense. I get that people need a reliable vehicle to get to work but even if you just spend a half a year’s income it would make a lot more sense.
The need to fit in and be seen as upwardly mobile and have new things to impress others is so strong in us.
As someone who has literally never bought any software at all, ever… I just get the stuff I need whether it is free or not. I don’t care if it is freeware or not actually
The one we live in, where software is being sold to consumers with terms of service that say customers don’t own the software they bought.
Which is what workers at McDonald’s in other countries make per hour, not including benefits. Oh, and the food is cheaper than in the states too.

People already do wear uniforms in a way. Have you ever been to a school or university. Any gathering of young people. Heck, go to a senior center and many of the clothes the old folks are wearing are all the same. I’m thinking high waisted polyester pants my great grandad used to wear lol.

Humans feel a deep desire to fit in and conform to their cultural norms. I’ve also seen studies where people who wear new clothes are seen as more intelligent, more competent, more hard working, more beautiful, etc compared to people who wear old clothes.

But just an fyi, dunning Krueger effect has been disproven as a theory because the correlation the studies purported to find were only the same variables correlated with themselves.
Dunning Krueger is a flawed theory and the effect is not real. But i hear you, it definitely feels true a lot of times.
In my field, over confident people are unsafe.
If someone uses confidence to show their competency, I have a tendency to back off and question their actual abilities until I see it in action. If someone I am working with is unaware of their own experience someone on my team could die.
Edit: obviously in the medical field if y’all don’t know what you’re doing a patient could have a bad outcome or even die as well.
