  • It’s a shame to see someone taking the side of big business over a small independent. Google has an effective monopoly on search, they take the content of sites and present it as their own, they also rarely do a good job of fighting SEO to show you things you actually want to see, this is likely a result of SEO winning rather than these guys.

You’re celebrating the big guy and telling the little guy to just live with it. Whoes going to make content when they are all gone.

Some games back in the day needed a patch the first week of release and never got one. Famously, the Japanese version of Kirby super star had to be recalled because it was so buggy. Half the intended mechanics in ff6 either don’t work properly or just flat out do nothing.

I really like old games, I have a bunch of old consoles that I play all the time, but this rose tinted view on things has got to go. Old games were buggy, too, they just did less and so had less to fail on.

And up until the ps2/3 era, qa was just the developers testing it themselves.

  • Jellyfin is 90% plex, and it’s impressive how it comes forward in leaps and bounds, but it’s not better than plex. People just appreciate it more.

If you only need that 90% that it does (and don’t need things like intro detection, conversions, mobile sync, ass/sas subtitles), then you’ll come away super happy with not having to pay plex and not being locked into plex.

It doesn’t really do much over that 90%, it’s just neat that the 90% isn’t plex
