Don’t search for reviews. Search for forum posts where users are having issues. “[Product] + [not working/failed/broken]” gets you an idea of what the product is like to live with, and now quickly issues get resolved.

Most of the reason I liked reddit (and use Lemmy) is because I use it almost exclusively while people are talking. Sound must always be off.
I can vouch for this. I run completely unrooted GrapheneOS and no app has ever failed a safetynet test. Banking apps and Pokemon Go work just fine.
I’ve never had issues with LineageOS either, but this is before the hardware attestation days.

Haha that’s what I was poking at. You won’t find it on tap in an Australian pub. I don’t even see it in bottle shops.
I don’t think Fosters is associated with a country. Maybe Japan or England.
My priorities:
Blocking ads and protecting privacy.
Being able to accomplish the task on my phone.
Literally every phone has its priorities out of whack and I have to fix it myself.
I’ve got a 6a and I ended up rolling my own DoT server so that it would adblock, but also resolve to servers in my own country.
I also moved to GrapheneOS. The only Google stuff that broke was Google Wallet’s tap payment thing. Reportedly even Android Auto is supported now.
Oh - my kid just got a Motorola G84. It was a very cheap handset for 12GB RAM and no ads so far. Very close to stock Android too.
That’s awesome! I saw it printed on a t-shirt soon after arriving in Japan, and a few days later recognized it on a cafe menu and ordered it for the kids.
So, it’s among the first things I learned too.
Haha I was studying katakana on the flight over. Katakana is typically used for English words, so you can understand a lot of text with only knowledge of a basic alphabet and not knowing any actual Japanese.
Gmail works with it.
But Gmail could technically pump the same ads over IMAP if they wanted to.
No, it’s a play on words using homophones.
*Laughs in GrapheneOS*
We called them portables.
My grade 3 portable is still standing. My children have been taught in it.
Queenstown, NZ has you covered.
I’m an app developer. My company makes an iOS version, and it’s damn near impossible to deal with Apple’s shit.
Imagine buying a piece of hardware and actually owning it.
Look up ADHD and “Auditory Processing Disorder”. I believe there’s a decent overlap between the two.
I’m ADHD (inattentive type, so just ADD I guess).
This all checks out. The audio processing disorder part is particularly frustrating. I can hear everything perfectly, but can’t focus on a person speaking because my brain will give equal attention to every other noise source around me. I feel like a robot trying to solve a captcha when I process speech.
There’s a LOT of symptoms and traits to ADHD. Perhaps find a list and run through them. Like, do you find that stimulants have an opposite effect and actually calm you down? Do you naturally sleep several hours after everyone else? Do you fidget and jitter when idle? are you “time blind”?
Printers are always horrible to administer. Brother are typically the best on Linux. I wrote a massive instructional blog a few weeks ago because it took so much work to get my HL-3150CDN working over USB. I had to repackage a Frankenstein’s monster of a driver because my printer never got 64-bit CUPS filters.
