Granted I was 24 and not great with money as my wife and I had about $1500 in credit card debt, but once or twice a year I’d put down $50 for a little fun money and play at an online casino for no more than a week or until the $50 was gone. Oh, no…we do. My best friend is a millennial, I’m an xennial, and we worry as much as Gen-Zers do. Well…I don’t necessarily because I have an in-demand career as a high school advanced math teacher, but I do worry like hell about retirement. My friend, though, while having a full-time job, they have almost no savings and would be one crisis away from homelessness if it weren’t for the people in their life who care about them.

Not quite right. If you get upset that someone pickpocketed your phone when I know for a fact that you were just bragging last week about having shoplifted something from a store, I might say “That’s a pot calling the kettle black”, meaning “You are not recognizing that you are being hypocritical for calling out an action that you yourself are guilty of.”

A better phrase to indicate a likeness would be “You are preaching to the choir.” However, I don’t know an expression which would encapsulate the sentiment you were attempting to project.
