Huh, I didn’t even know this existed until now. And instead of being tempted to watch the show, I’m wondering how wise it is to leave viewers (and potential viewers) wondering if they would rather you have made the other show that you teased in the first place.
A while ago I spent 20 minutes doing captchas to try to reset the password to my Steam account. I finally Googled to see if it usually took so many, and it turned out to just be bugged, lmao. Had to reset it through the mobile app instead, IIRC.
I usually am pleasant, though. I would feel much less human if I just demanded things!
A measuring cup is a specific size, about 237mL. There’s a whole system of US measurements, actually:
3 teaspoons in a tablespoon
2 tablespoons in an ounce
8 ounces in a cup
2 cups in a pint
2 pints in a quart
4 quarts in a gallon
Not all cups are measuring cups; if you are having a cup of coffee that doesn’t mean your cup is exactly 8oz. You just infer from context that if someone is talking about ingredients then you should measure them with a measuring cup. (Very commonly you also see cups with graduated markings, which are US Imperial on one side and metric on the other, that go up to 2 cups/500mL.)
I would think this was cute. It’s low-stakes, playful boundary pushing that indicates flirtatious interest.
Honestly I feel like characters die all the time, to the point that I mostly roll my eyes at it. Yeah yeah, “stakes,” “emotional impact,” whatever, now they can’t be in any more stories, which is bad if I liked them, and also means they don’t have a chance to become more interesting if I didn’t.
Is the joke with apophenia that there’s no connection between the illustration and the definition? Or am I missing something?
It’s quite good. If you’re looking specifically for aliens, you’ll enjoy the second trilogy (Brightness Reef, Heaven’s Reach, Infinity’s Shore) which is set on a planet where members of various species are attempting to live together outside the structure of galactic society.
I like Sundiver even though it isn’t very much like the rest of the series. I’d say check it out, and if it doesn’t grab you just move on to Startide Rising. Skipping straight to Brightness Reef will also work.
Very cool! I’m looking forward to it, but it also seems like the first expac that I might not want to enable for every playthrough, which is interesting—I wonder if we’ll see more of these themed packs going forward.
But they haven’t found the facial database and Invenda claims they don’t have one, right? Their story is that the machine takes an image, runs some local processing to determine demographic info about the user/customer/target/victim, and then stores that instead of storing the image or biometrics.
There’s a good chance they’re lying but claiming the database has been “revealed” when no one has found it yet seems like sensationalism.
Edit: “Secret demographic database derived from facial recognition” would be true but sounds less snappy, I guess?
I did as a kid, but my tinnitus covers it up now.

Yeah I haven’t done this with a gas nozzle, but I walk off without stuff I need and which I was just holding basically every day, so I will probably manage this feat of incredible stupidity eventually.
I told my dog I’m going to lay off sharing my food with her, because I think eating too much of whatever crap I was eating was starting to affect her health; I noticed her licking the air, which is a sign of nausea. She now believes I don’t love her anymore and howls mournfully whenever I am eating. 🤦♂️

This is the first I’ve heard of Jumplight Odyssey. It looks potentially cool, but $30 for an early access title is a big ask in a year completely saturated with banger games, and based on the reviews it seems to need a bit more time before it is really ready. I’m not surprised, then, that it didn’t do as well as they hoped: if they hadn’t just announced that they’re stopping development, I would have put it on my wishlist to come back to in a year or two when it’s feature-complete, and when hopefully I’m not in the middle of so many other games already. If that’s a typical response, they probably didn’t get many sales.
What do you fall back to when they just agree that “jay-pheg” is the only reasonable pronunciation?
