Yeah, I knew that the staff was confused, it’s just been several months since the bootloader app stopped working and with this news I’m starting to wonder if it will be available again

This is quite sad news. I feel like there isn’t a phone other than the zenfone 9/10 that could be a valid option for me. I guess I’ll just stick with this phone as long as I can. Hopefully they also release the unlock bootloader so I can download a new OS or some updates.

Not that I’m defending this move, but there is a difference between this and your example. iirc, the way Lemmy works, to get content from other instances, this instance “caches” the data and then hosts the data on their server(s) for the users to access. Because of this, the instance is technically hosting the data and could theoretically be held liable in any lawsuits.

Please do correct me if I misunderstand how Lemmy works. Also reading through other comments, it seems like no pirated content is actually hosted on those communities, so I doubt that they could be held liable in the first place.

There’s a FiiO BTR5 that is a small external DAC with many bluetooth formats. It can have up to two devices connected at the same time, although audio can only switch between the two devices, not play both at the same time

I believe ASUS phones have an unlockable bootloader - although the app for it currently doesn’t work (several month long maintenance?) but is estimated to work again sometime Q3 of this year

yeah, with options of subscribed, local, and all. You have to enable it in settings and when you do, under that feed every instance you have in the app will populate it. Just a heads up that it will also populate from instances you aren’t signed into so make sure to remove them by holding on the instance name (i.e. lemmy.world).

Although it’s not Samsung, I consider the ASUS Zenfone 9 the spiritual successor to the S10e. It’s got most of the same physical features (except the microSD slot), but with an updated battery, screen, cameras, charging, and processor. It is a bit buggy at times, the software update support timeline isn’t quite there, and it has none of the useful Samsung apps/features like GoodLock, but for me the phone is still the best one I’ve had to date.
