I thought of this meme a few hours ago, but only just sat down to write it so I forgot the template I was gonna use and had to recycle a different one

the title is a joke but it’s been 7 years and I’m starting to be doney with the funny, treatment resistant depression is a trolling little shit

What is the most important step a person can take?

It is the next step. Always the next step.

If I pretend I haven’t done bad things, it means I cannot have grown to become a better person.

Journey before destination. It cannot be a journey if it doesn’t have a beginning.

I will take responsibility for the things I have done. If I must fall, I will rise each time a better man.

(Adapted from The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. If you, like me, struggle with depression, I heartily recommend the series. This bit above isn’t from the character who most resonates with me, but another whose name I won’t put here to avoid spoilers. But Kaladin, one of the main characters and the primary focus of the first book, The Way of Kings, is one of the best examples of a character with major depressive disorder I’ve ever read. The kind that isn’t just fixed when things go well. The kind that is a lifelong struggle with the darkness. But it is such a beautifully crafted story and makes me feel so many feelings. Give it a read/listen, your local library probably has the audiobook if that’s your jam and you can listen on your phone.)
